D.O.M HOTEL ROMA

D.O.M. HOTEL ROMA is situated in the heat of Papal Rome, a seventeenth-century aristocratic palace turned into a five-star luxury boutique hotel with eighteen rooms, five regular suites, and one expansive luxury suite with private terrace. The location is convenient to a host of sites, including the Piazza Navona, Piazza Farnese, the famed Trastevere neighborhood, and St. Peter’s Basilica. The owners preserved many of the original structural components, including exposed brick walls, coffered wooden ceilings, and blocks of marble with religious inscriptions dating back to the Renaissance. Both vintage and contemporary furniture, design, and artworks—including three original Andy Warhol silkscreens—have been artfully placed throughout the common areas and the rooms, which pop against the palate of soft whites, dove grays, and tobacco browns. The overall effect is one that is both cosmopolitan and nostalgic, trendy but welcoming.

No doubt one of the hotel’s standouts is its Achilli al Parlamento restaurant, which for fifty years has been a center of wine culture and gastronomy from its location on Rome’s Via dei Prefetti Today, it brings that reputation—along with access to wines from its historic cellars—to the D.O.M. Hotel under the supervision of Michelin-starred chef Massimo Viglietti. This young culinary star has a passion for great wines and international cuisine—and the unparalleled experience that is created when the two are perfectly matched. During the summer months, the restaurant relocates its seating to the rooftop terrace, scented with the fragrance of the nearby herb garden and providing visitors with breathtaking views of the city and Tiber. It’s also a great spot from which to enjoy custom cocktails by the restaurant’s mix master, either before or after dinner. In the winter, drinks can be enjoyed fireside at the inside lounge.
