TERME MANZI
TERME MANZI HOTEL is an architectural gem, built in 1863 as a thermal spa utilizing the waters of the on-site Gurgitiello Springs. Over the years, the spa has attracted noblemen, academics, poets, and industry executives seeking relief from the healing waters. Even Giuseppe Garibaldi, the “Hero of Two Worlds,” came here to heal the wounds he suffered while fighting for Italian unification at the battle of Aspromonte. The Polito family purchased the hotel in 2000, and their sensitivity to and passion for the property’s history resulted in a unique melding of classic Italian architecture with oriental elements, a three-dimensional tale of local culture through the ages. Located on the island of Ischia in the village of Casamicciola, this elegant and sophisticated palace is where the mind and body become one. The spring waters still form the basis of the spa’s treatments, as does the local organic volcanic clay, also known for its therapeutic properties. The nearby heart-shaped San Montano bay is one of the most beautiful on the island, known for its white sand beaches and shallow, crystal clear waters.
The largest of the islands in the Gulf of Naples, Ischia has something for everyone, from the peace and quiet of idyllic hideaways to the buzz of sophisticated nightlife. The hotel’s Bar Il Mosaico likewise offers a refined environment in which to enjoy craft cocktails, beer, wine, and lively hospitality—and there’s always live music. Or, take your drink up to the rooftop and watch the sunset over the majestic Monte Epomeo, an active volcano. Michelin-starred chef Giovani De Vivo presides over the Il Mosaico restaurant, where he crafts exemplary traditional dishes with a modern twist using only the freshest local ingredients. And make sure not to miss their pizza, which can be paired with any number of craft beers as well as local, regional, national, or international wines. Enjoy your repast inside the restaurant or in the shade of the terrace, surrounded by greenery and fragrant olive trees.
