LA MERIDIANA RESORT & GOLF redefines the definition of a luxury hotel. “I prefer that we be remembered as your home when far from home,” says co-owner Edmondo Segre. “A real taste of la dolce vita in a quiet and scenic corner of the Italian Riviera.” Edmondo and his wife, Alessandra, have helmed the hotel since 1983, evolving it into one of the most charming places to stay on the Ligurian coast. Located halfway between Monte Carlo and Portofino, and fifteen minutes from several beautiful beaches, it was designed and constructed in 1971 by Luisa Berto de Segre, whose sister, Teresa de Berto Galleani, built the 18-hole golf course next door. The architecture is inspired by nearby Provence and features large arches and canopies, stone walls, antique tile roofs, and warm and bright colors. Alessandra’s passion for interior design and gardening is reflected in everything from the flower arrangements gracing the lobby and restaurant to the unique décor in each of the hotel’s twenty-six rooms. Mornings are another delightful sensory experience, as the smell of fresh coffee and pastries lure guests to the daily breakfast buffet. 

On those days when you want to stay onsite and relax, you can do so by the pool, in the gardens, or at the nearby private beach. Offsite excursions include world-class golfing and a myriad of other outdoor adventures, as well as trips to a nearby luxury outlet mall. The hotel’s two onsite restaurants and impressive cellar showcase Edmondo’s love of fine wine and local culinary traditions. The menus at Il Bistrot and Il Rosmarino focus on the specialties and flavors of the region, including fine olive oils and locally sourced thyme, rosemary, marjoram, and basil. Here, one can experience such beloved traditional dishes as ravioli with borage and ricotta, trofie with pesto, potato and anchovy tortini, stuffed pumpkin flowers, olive pâté with hot focaccia, minestrone alla ligure, and the local risotto dish made with beans and sausage known as panissa.
