Borgo San Luigi
BORGO SAN LUIGI is situated amid rural splendor at the foot of the walls to the ancient Tuscan village of Monteriggioni. Here, a compound of seventeenth-century buildings has been fully renovated into a modern four-star hotel without sacrificing the original ambiance and architecture. The seventy-three guestrooms, including suites and junior suites, are divided among the compound’s villa and guesthouse, which share the surrounding fifteen park-like acres with the ancient farmhouse, barn, and olive mill. The interiors are outfitted for both form and function, and feature comfortable bedding and plush linens, antique furnishings and fabrics, and the rustic terracotta floors for which Tuscany is so famous. Most rooms also include a private terrace or balcony. The outdoor spaces are just as inviting as the indoor, and guests should be sure to spend at least one day roaming the grounds.
Interspersed among the centuries-old trees, spacious lawns, and blooming gardens is an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool with umbrellas, loungers, and a full-service bar. This is the perfect spot to spend the day relaxing, taking in the fresh air, and maybe drowsing in the sun. Adventure beyond the hotel awaits as well. Its advantageous position between Siena and Florence makes Borgo San Luigi the perfect base from which to explore a region celebrated the world over for its incomparable natural, artistic, and gastronomic heritage. That heritage is also celebrated at the hotel’s two exceptional restaurants, which showcase traditional Tuscan dishes using products grown and raised in the region around Siena, along with a carefully curated list of wines to complement each dish. Enjoy meals outside on the terrace or by the pool in the warm months, and inside the lovely interiors during the cold season.
